ICBNI - Information For Oral Presenters And Session Chairs
Oral Presentations
Lectures will be held in held in the Advanced Engineering Building (building 49) at UQ, in the auditorium 49-200, and in rooms 49-301 and 49-313A. Sessions will be also held in the Hawken Building rooms N-201 and N-202. The Hawken is 2 minutes’ walk across from the AEB.
Timing of Talks
Plenary lecturers will have a total of 60 min (55 min for the talk and 5 min for questions).
Keynote lecturers will have a total of 30 min (25 min for the talk and 5 min for questions).
Contributed lecturers will have a total of 15 min (12 min for the talk and 3 min for questions).
Loading your Presentation
Please ensure that your PPT is loaded onto the desktop computer in each room by at least prior to the start of the program of talks each day. Someone will be available in each room from 8 am, and during the tea/lunch breaks to help load your talk.
You are welcome to run your talk off your laptop, but do ensure the switchover works in the break between sessions prior to your talk.
Your Presentation Session
Please introduce yourself to your session Chair during the break prior to the session and check that your overheads/computers are in working order. If possible familiarise yourself with the lecture theatre prior to the commencement of the mornings lectures.
To aid in the smooth running of the program, the session time keeper will ring bells to indicate elapsed time. Please try to conclude your presentation on hearing the two warning rings.

In order that the concurrent sessions remain aligned, all sessions must run according to the program. Speakers who run overtime will be cut off by the Chair of the session. It is the responsibility of the session chairs to ensure that the speakers keep to the allotted time.
A student time keeper will assist in the smooth running of the session.
ICBNI - Instructions For Poster Presentations
The following guidelines will be of help when you prepare your poster presentation.
Poster Board Size
Size of usable area: 90 cm wide and 120 cm high (i.e. portrait orientation).
Preparing your Poster
Text on Poster
- Use a clear typeface.
- The poster should be readable from a distance of 2-3 meters. This means that all lettering should be at least 8mm high, with a minimum font size of 24.
Graphs and Diagrams
- Graphs and figures should be readable from a distance of 2-3 meters.
- They should be drawn with a minimum line width of 1 mm.
Handouts
'Handouts', photocopies of either your individual poster units or the whole presentation reduced to A4 format are generally well appreciated by delegates. If you wish to distribute handouts, you should prepare them beforehand and bring them with you.
Poster Session
Posters can be on display from the afternoon of Sunday 24th September to lunchtime of Wednesday 27th September when they should be removed.
The formal Poster Session will be on Tuesday 26th September, from 18.00 – 20.00 hours.
All Poster authors are kindly requested to be present at their poster during the entire session. Snacks and drinks will be served during the poster session.
Poster Area
Posters will be presented along the main entrance area of the conference venue.
The number of your poster can be found in the online program (for example P-001).
Mounting of Posters
Mounting posters: by Monday 25th September 08.00 hours
Removing posters: by Wednesday 27th September 13.00 hours
Velcro tabs will be available to allow you to fix your poster to the boards.
